Reny Picot presents its best cheeses at the 32nd ‘Salón de Gourmets de Madrid’. Madrid’s Gourmet Foods fair is a key event in Europe and an unmissable date in the gastronomic calendar, bringing together the best and most innovative gourmet food products from around the world. Reny Picot will take its place at this 32nd occasion of the exposition, which runs from 7-10 May at Madrid’s prestigious Trade Fair Institution (IFEMA).
The Salón de Gourmets is organised by Grupo Gourmets, a pioneer in Spanish food, and is a showcase for the finest products in the agri-food sector, attracting leading companies from all over the country as well as numerous international exhibitors.
Visitors will find Reny Picot at stand H26, Pavilion 8, where they will be able to taste from our range of gourmet cheeses, including the Señorío de Montelarreina Gran Reserva, Gran Duque de Alba, the goats’ cheese specialities of Le Chevrèfeuille, the delicious blue cheese and our traditional Brie y Camembert, all of them award winners in international competitions.
This 32nd gourmet foods fair is expected to attract some 1,600 exhibitors displaying around 40,000 products. The event is organised into themed zones, devoted to New Products, Wine Culture, Food Trucks Area, and the 9th ‘Campeonato GourmetQuesos’, the Gourmet Cheese Championship.
Best Cheeses at 9º Campeonato GourmetQuesos
With over 600 cheeses entered into last year’s competition, this is considered to be the most important competition in Spain. It is a landmark event, celebrating our rich cheese heritage and bringing this culture to the wider public.
2018 sees the ninth occasion of the Championship, which will take place over two stages. The first will involve all samples in the competition, from which the semi-finalists will be chosen. In the second phase, the finalists will be judged and the winners announced.
The panel of judges is a diverse group comprising technicians, cheese experts, retailers, chefs, professional purchasers, floor managers, blog-writers and food journalists, whose collective tastes should match closely with those of consumers to ensure a representative evaluation of the contenders.
The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 10, in the Gourmets Auditorium. Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded in each category, and the overall winner – the Ganador Absoluto – will be chosen from the category winners to receive the Gran Premio GourmetQuesos for Best Cheese of Spain 2018.
